| Hello from this side of the Atlantic Ocean !!
Maybe Arch. Marini was a very early vocation, otherwise he won´t be an Archbishop today. Remember, Pope Benedict wanted to be a Cardinal since he was 5 or 6 years old....
I went to a boarding school since the age of 11 as well. In my home town we had good shools etc.. but my parents really like the one they sent us to. I was the last one of the girls to go to a boarding school but my three brothers were also sent. I think it was the old way and it was not cheap, I am sure about that.
I ordered Arch. Marini ´s book when still in Canada, so I hope to get it pretty soon. I cannot wait to get it.
Cheers ! | |

| Welcome to Europe, Letizia, nice to have you back with us! About the book – I don`t know where you ordered it from, but if it was Amazon, it should already be shipped your way. I got their message that release date was one day later than expected, so they sent it on the 17th and it should arrive around 30th November. Can`t wait! Thanks for that photo, Admin. The oldest I have of him is from a book about Vatican. The quality of the picture is lousy, but I thought I should post it anyway. | |

| Admin, Maybe Mons. Marini was sent to away to continue his studies but in my opinion without a vocation he would have left sooner or later. Yes, you should ask him ! The foto sounds familiar, thank you . He doesn´t look like himself in that photo, also in MHO.
Thank you Vanadija for your great info and your pic , he looks more in this one, like the Piero I am used to.
I hope soon I will be able post more often , right now is not easy to come to the net as much as I would like.
Cheers! | |

| Admin, you have given me quite a homework, but ok, I`ll do my best. I found that book in our local library a few years back. If I remember correctly the title was simply Vatikan (which is Slovene for The Vatican) and it was a relatively big book in diameter. It had a Swiss guard on its cover and tons of pictures inside. Best two (besides Piero`s) were the flipper machine in the sacristy of St. Peters and the swimming pool for children on the terrace (or maybe it was balcony) of one of the Pope`s bodyguards. I think to remember the editors note that this was a reprint of an older - already sold out - edition, now published simultaneously in various countries, but each edition with a slightly different content. Checking our library data base, I think it can be no other than this one: Vatikan, by Bart MacDowell (author) and James L. Stanfield (photographer), 232 pages, release year 1991. | |

I'm the greatest fan of him but thought that you might like this video which shows the Pope, Marini and Card. Schönborn struggling with a microphone crash! its quite funny! its a bit long, the actual crash happens a good 5 minutes in the video enjoy http://www.benedictxvi.tv/video/2007/058-07-09-2007-austria-1-vienna-benedictxvi.wmvxxx | |

| Welcome Star-light!!!! I am sooo happy you found us And thanks for that video (and link)!!! I didn't even know there's such a website. So thank you again!!! About the book, I found it, it is called Inside the Vatican, but! the same book by the same authors was published also in 2005 (both National Geographic). So be careful if you want to by it on Amazon, cos those wowowow pictures Vanadija shared (thank you!!!), are possibly to be found only in the book published in 1991 ( I assume)!!! I believe that 2005 version is updated. Anyway this week I will borrow the book, and I 'll let you know. | |

| Admin, it`s good we all pay attention to his whereabouts, because he seems to be in a different city every 14 days and if he will continue like that we will have quite a hard time following his moves. And have you noticed – new city, new book! Rome - Magnum Iubilaeum, Sede Apostolica Vacante and Inizio del Ministero Petrino del Vescovo di Roma Benedetto XVI, Paris - Cerémoniaire des papes (he will also preside a mass at Saint Francois Xavier Church in Paris today at 11.30), London - A Challenging Reform, Realizing the Vision of the Liturgical Renewal……wow, I have never seen something like that before. Btw: I already got my copy of his book from Amazon on the 22nd November, the London not the Paris one – I`m afraid I don`t understand a word of French, although I`m sure that book is most interesting too. PS: Have you been to the library yet? I`m curious how many differences are there between 1991 and 2005 edition. | |
